Sand Martin nesting bank
Thanks to a contribution from the Bird Information Centre and the Lions Club Texel, a natural bank for breeding Sand Martins could be created at the Robbenjager. Sand Martins are a scarce breeding bird on Texel and could greatly benefit from more nesting habitat. We are grateful to the former owner of the Robbenjager (Jaap Groen) for making this possible
The Sand Martin nesting bank was created close to the viewing point at the Robbenjager. As a result, any future breeding Sand Martins will be easily to observe without disturbance. The material for the nesting bank was made available by Natuurmonumenten and comes from the Nieuw Buitenheim area. The company Smit from Oost and Marc Kooiman constructed the nesting bank.
